Not all residential rebates and funding apply to apartment buildings or owners corporations so we’re trying to make it easier to find the ones that do.

We endeavour to find the rebates, funding or offers that do apply for Victorian apartment communities. We include programs that offer free or discounted services (e.g. Government programs that offer energy audits).

Electrifying Apartment Buildings Program: Expressions of interest

Expressions of interest are open for medium and high-rise apartment buildings to receive an Electrification Feasibility Assessment. Apply by Sunday 26 July 2026.

The Electrifying Apartment Buildings program is a joint initiative by the Victorian Government and City of Melbourne to support apartment communities to understand and improve their energy performance, electrify their buildings, and reduce their energy costs.

Through this free pilot program, apartment owners can access expert, independent advice on switching to clean electric appliances — such as solar panels, batteries, hot water heat pumps, EV chargers, induction cooktops, and more. You can also get practical tips on reducing energy bills through insulation, draught proofing, and other energy efficiency upgrades.

The advice is delivered by ZapCat, a certified social enterprise. ZapCat does not receive lead fees or commissions.

Solar for Apartments, Solar Victoria

Rebates of up to $2,800 per apartment (up to $140,000 per property) are now available until Tuesday 30 June 2027 or until all rebates are exhausted, whichever comes first.

Rebates are available for apartment buildings, strata townhouses and units under the control of an Owners Corporation and sharing a common property rooftop.

Victorian Energy Upgrades, Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action

The Victorian Energy Upgrades program offers discounts on energy-efficient products for your home or owners corporation.

The VEU is available for the following products:

  • Clothes dryer

  • Commercial and industrial lighting

  • Commercial and industrial solar panel

  • Heating and cooling (includes reverse cycle air conditioners)

  • High efficiency motor

  • Hot water system

  • In-home display

  • Induction cooktop (note that there are currently no 2 zone cooktops available under VEU)

  • Insulation

  • Refrigerator and freezer

  • Shower head

  • Television

  • Weather sealing

  • Window glazing
