Unlocking Electrification Upgrades in Apartment Buildings
By combining practical delivery with national knowledge-sharing, the project aims to enable and scale electrification in apartment buildings across Australia.
We will work with three Victorian apartment communities over 18 months to test how electrification upgrades can happen in practice, then use those insights to create practical resources, supplier information and a community of practice. It will also develop policy recommendations, so apartment residents are better supported to take part in the energy transition.
Apartment residents are being left behind in the energy transition due to the complexities of electrifying shared buildings. Some of the challenges include navigating Strata, limited tailored support, and gaps in policy and financing. This disproportionately affects renters and lower-income households, making it a critical equity and justice issue.

Thanks to Energy Consumers Australia for funding and collaborating on this project.
Electrifying Apartment Buildings
Apartment owners and residents face extra challenges when it comes to electrification. From getting owners corporation approvals to upgrading shared building infrastructure, the process can feel complicated. This new project is designed to help apartment communities understand and progress towards efficient electrification upgrades.
We'll work with apartment communities across Maribyrnong and Brimbank. Beginning with a survey to understand the electrification goals of our target communities and the barriers they face, our event programming, tools and templates will deliver the highest value where it matters most.

Thank you to the Victorian Government’s Cheaper Home Electric Energy Program for funding this project.
High Life Expo
The High Life Expo is a labour of love, delivered thanks to financial support from:
Local government contributions
Fees paid by Supplier Showcase stallholders
Sponsorships
In addition, each year, Let Me Be Frank gifts in-kind time to organise the Expo. In 2024, we gifted around 300 hours.
We commit to making the Expo available to not-for-profits and community groups. We reserve free places.
Not just any suppliers or organisations can participate in the Showcase or sponsor the Expo. We collect the following information from each supplier or organisation to give us confidence they offer quality service:
Details of any parent or subsidiaries companies
Details of any referral fees they receive as part of their income
Quality assurance processes
Their approach to sustainability, equity and social good
How many apartments / apartment buildings they have worked with
Our ears are always open for amazing organisations or suppliers. Equally, please let us know if you’ve had any issues with the suppliers or organisations that participate in the Expo.
